Something unique is one of a kind.  Now unique can be one of a kind good or one of a kind bad.  A unique dress can be one of a kind good or one of a kind bad too.  I hope your unique dress story if a happy one.

One of my unique dresses I bought at Goodwill.  I thought it was a cute dress; I thought it was a unique dress.  It was obviously cheap and I got compliments when I wore it.  What made this dress a unique dress, was that it had a form-fitting wide, black waist band that I wore with a belt.  Yes, I received compliments, but being a teacher, I would often have a child ask me, “How did you hurt your back?”  I suppose it looked a little or maybe a lot like a back brace.  I even thought that maybe some adults thought I had back problems, so I got rid of  that unique dress.

When shopping at a major department store, I happened upon a Calvin Klein dress.  You might wonder what was so unique about it.  It was a really cute  sleeveless denim dress that fit like a glove.  The description doesn’t sound so unique, but what made this designer dress a unique dress was the price.  Its original price was well over a hundred dollars.  I landed this unique dress for only $5.  That’s right, it cost $5.  I head straight to the clearance racks when shopping at major department stores.  The price on this unique dresses had been seriously slashed.  This unique dress was one of a kind – GOOD.

I have a weakness for denim dresses.  My next unique dress story involves another denim dress.  This unique dress I bought many years ago.  It is sleeveless and denim with a contrasting denim flower.  Very very cute.  This unique dress can be worn with tennis shoes or dressier shoes.  I can wear this unique dress to work, run errands, or vacation.  It’s a heavy enough material that a slip and bra are not required.  I wear this unique dress all year long.  When it is cold outside, I might wear a shirt underneath or layer it with a jacket.  I’ve had this dress forever, but it doesn’t go out of style.  I often get compliments when I wear this unique dress.  Another good unique dress story.

When I was a stay-at-home mom, I looked for very comfortable  clothes at cheap prices.  At this time,  making dresses by sewing together men’s t-shirts became popular at my church.  A friend explained exactly how it was done, so I busied myself with this unique dress project.  When finished with my unique dress, I thought the best place to take my unique dress on her maiden run was to church.  My unique dress, designed for comfort, made me feel anything but.  This unique dress felt more like a nightgown.  Whether others thought that or not, no one said.  But nothing said can often be a telltale sign that a  unique dress is not so much unique, but unusual or worse, strange.  This very strange unique dress was never worn again.

Unique dresses, good and bad, stir up memories.  It’s interesting how an article of clothing can have so many thoughts and feeling attached to it.  The important thing is to look  at this unique dress stories and laugh.  What is your unique dress story?
