Elders often dismiss the passions of youth as sheer folly. It was the same for me, when at the age of 18 I decided to temporarily leave the nation’s premier State University and go to the most deprived urban poor communities in the country in order to integrate myself with poor workers and their families. My parents couldn’t understand why their only daughter would willingly abandon the comforts of middle-class life in favor of living in ramshackle huts with no running water or clean bathrooms. They were concerned about my safety and seriously considered using brute force in order to prevent me from leaving. But I was adamant. At 18, I thought the time had come to be independent, to chart my own path and to make my own mistakes. And so I went off, scared shitless yet confident enough to know that this would be an invaluable learning experience.

Now more than six years later, I can honestly say that I’ve learned more from living with urban poor communities than from all the things that my professors discussed inside the four walls of the classroom. Apart from learning how to do the laundry, cook my own food and budget less than a hundred pesos for a week’s sustenance, I learned the inalienable fact that in a country where abject poverty exists side by side with unbelievable wealth and opulence, life is indeed unfair. Only the wealthy and the privileged are able to afford a Sovereign Insurance or a life insurance policy while their poor counterparts die not because of the disease but because they don’t have money to afford the hospital bills.

Although the poor people cannot really afford to get themselves a life insurance, they try to come by the day and are happy to earn enough to put food on the table. They live simple but a very happy life and that’s what really matters. Money cannot buy everything, certainly not happiness and contentment.

What I learned from these experiences is that life lessons are usually pieces of advice dispersed by those who have earned them, either through age or sheer experience. If I were to disperse my own, I would certainly say that at 24 years old, life has taught me that genuine social change cannot be achieved by cynicism or angst, because middle-class depression is certainly incomparable to lower-class desperation. Change will only be achieved collectively, with everybody pitching in. And most importantly, life has taught me that sometimes, the youth need to have the courage to defy convention (and their elders) in order to fulfill their role as the harbingers of change.

As my kids grow up, I’m beginning to realize that it’s time to say good bye to a number of things. Some I’m glad to be rid of, and others I think I’m gonna miss. The obvious list of diapers, bottles, and sleepless nights have long since gone and I have no desire to revisit any of them. But there are a whole host of other ones that I am going to miss having around. One of them is trick or treating with the kids. Sure, we still get plenty of kids coming to our door on Halloween night, but last year was the first year that none of our girls had any interest in going out at all. It was always sort of fun to see them getting ready in their Halloween costumes from year to year.

Whether it was princesses, or mermaids, or ghosts or disco aliens, it was a great way to spend the evening. Our neighbourhood was built with Halloween in mind I think. Most of the houses were very close together, which made it great for knocking on lots of doors in a short period of time. Especially, on those nights when the weather wasn’t so cooperative. Although, I must admit that for the most part it was dry and only mildly cold for many of our spooky hallow evenings. Whatever the weather though, I’m gonna miss taking the girls out for it, guess I’ll have to wait for the grandkids

I have a rather strange addiction to certain television shows. It’s kinda funny, because I get so attached to certain characters, I just can’t get enough of them. I think, it partially has to do with the way I watch the shows. I usually wait till a few years of a series is done, and then I’ll watch an entire year at a time. One of my favorite going on lately is a series called Supernatural. I’m into the second year, and it’s getting really good, which is nice since the entire first year was pretty bad. I stuck with it, because I know it’s currently like in it’s fourth or fifth season, so I figured it had to get better. There’s was an episode I watched today which was a perfect example of just how good it’s gotten. It got pretty serious, had a good does of humor, and forced the main characters to make some really conflicted decisions.

Sam actually falls in love with a female werewolf (partially because she dumped here entire lingerie drawer out in front of him), that doesn’t know she’s a werewolf. They try to cure her (spoiler: there is no cure), and are forced with the horrible decision of having to kill her or risk her taking more lives. The episode was intelligently written, with the possible exception of not enough character development for the wolf lady, but still quite touching. It’s not very often, you see a show go from bad to good over the course of a few seasons, but it’s a nice surprise.

Let us face it. The economy situation today is not supportive for us to build a new business. Besides the unstable economy situation, the purchase ability of the customers is in its lowest rank. However, if you ever heard of franchising business or buying a business, you can still build your new business with confident and customers will keep on coming to you. The fact that customers will lower their spending budgets and purchase only from brand and trademark that they recognize instead of spending their money on trying over the products that have a great risk to disappoint them, make the franchising business triumph in this financial hardship situation.

You can find all of the info about the franchising business from business sales site. In such website, many business owners are offering their cooperation in running a business. As a matter of fact, franchising business is the best solution both for the franchisees and the franchisers. The franchisees will have strong foothold in the form of recognized brands and trademarks as well as the consistent business system that can guarantee the success. Meanwhile, the franchisers will be helped to expand their business emporium effectively since they will not responsible fully for the capital funds to build other business branches.

Winters are lovely. They bring all the holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, etc. and to some fortunate areas, a lot of snowfall to add to the fun. Now, when it snows, an obvious option is skiing. However, there are some really weird myths regarding skiing holidays. Let us go through some and find why they are called “myths”.

Skiing holidays have to be costly: This is so not true when you know how to plan a low-budget skiing holiday. You can always skip the travel agency and serve yourself. You can book your tickets in advance or simply drive to the destination. You can do some online research on cost-effective resorts or hire an apartment or a chalet. Go for rented equipment if you can’t afford buying and definitely avoid festive occasions.

Skiing is perilous: If you are careful, obey the instructions well and not overdo yourself then it is not at all dangerous. Even if you are a beginner, you will find adept skiing instructors in every skiing destination ready to help you learn the sport in a safe manner. Stay out of high sloping regions unless you are very confident. Do not drink or dope before skiing as then no one can help you.

It is always uncomfortably freezing while skiing: Quite obviously when we are talking about snowfall in winter, we can’t expect 23 degrees. However, when it is sunny around the Alps, the general -5 degrees do shoot up to around 10 degrees giving you a warm experience on the ice.

Skiing holidays are very fussy: No it’s not, if you go for a catered holiday. The travel agency will book your ticket, reserve the accommodation, arrange the skiing equipment, arrange the non-skiing activities and even prepare your what-you-must-take-with-you list. So, all you have to do is reach the airport. Rest is their responsibility.

Other strong myths include “you cannot take your kid to skiing”, “the mountain food isn’t edible”, “skiing instructions are difficult to follow” and many more. Do get over these and enjoy your own skiing holiday experience.

People involved in the personal development profession sometimes will have heard of both life coaching and NLP (Neuro – Linguistic – programming) and the debate of what is better might come into play. The simple answer is that one is not better then the other, is a hammer better then a drill? The answer to that will greatly depend on what the person is trying to do. And this is the same. Those who are considering attending any type of life coaching courses will encounter that some of the training involved will include NLP type of tools. And visa-versa. Both NLP and life coaching have a serious of resources and tools that if used in combination at the appropriate moments will create transformation at a much rapid pace then each tool used alone.

Coaches have to undergo an additional two years of training in order to work with people. There are three levels of certification as presented by the ICF Which are ACC accredited, PCC Professional, MCC which is the Master level.

Nlp practitioner certifications last no more then 12 days total for the practitioner and the master practitioner levels

Nero linguists programming is in essence the science and study of how the mind works and how the mind records and processes information. The theory is: that if one knows exactly how the mind stores events then they can be modified and changed in order to create or change a particular behavior. Life coach courses are geared towards creating accountability, identifying what are the limiting beliefs in the person that is stopping them from achieving their potential, they then create a measurable action plan to reach the level of success the individual is after. It is at that point that NLP strategies such as swish patterns, anchoring, and hypnosis can further deepen the integration of change. A key strategy to this type of work is not just to create change at the moment, but to create change that lasts.

This article is going to shock some folks if only because of the title. But let me just say that the title is there to grab your attention. If you are not someone who would every consider getting a tattoo, then I’m not going to try and convince you otherwise. If you are someone who has religious or moral objections from getting a tattoo, then again, I am not going to try and get you to consider putting a tattoo on your unblemished canvas of skin. However, if you have occasionally thought of getting a tattoo but never got around to it, then you are my ideal candidate. Read on and see why I recommend that you finally step up to the plate and get a tattoo.

Tattoos are not new. They’ve been around for centuries. Old Maori warriors received tattoos as a sign of their manhood and status as warriors. They have been used by indigenous cultures in place of what we have now as military rankings. So tattoos aren’t just something new and cool and risque. They have a long and storied history as emblems of culture, prestige in that culture and as symbols of beauty. In fact, foot tattoo designs can be seen going back many decades and beyond. The same can be said for skull tattoo designs. As they say, there really isn’t anything new under the sun that you and I can think of.

Because tattoos have a long history does not necessarily mean you should get one. However, it does mean that just because our culture might frown on them doesn’t mean that tattoos are evil, ugly or inappropriate, you just have to work them into your lifestyle appropriately. That means if you’re going to get one to keep it in a place that is discreet especially if you aren’t a rockstar but are a corporate peon. Tattoos are best had when they are little talisman or reminders of who you are or a significant event in your life. As we grow older, you can look at your tattoo and be reminded fondly of that special occasion or that special someone. Just don’t get their name unless it was someone close to you like a brother, mother, grand parent or child. If you get a tattoo for these reasons you’ll be often comforted by the meaning that it represents.

So you’ve found yourself in the position you thought you never would, always happens to ‘other people’ right? Unfortunately this isn’t always the case anymore. Statistics aren’t really in our favor when it comes to marriage these days so you’re not the only one out there on the hunt for some of the best divorce lawyers. At least there is plenty of helpful information and tips out there for how we can make the process a little easier on ourselves.

As mentioned the statistics for a successful marriage are unfortunately not overwhelmingly good, for this reason it’s very common that if you’ve found yourself in this position, you’ll also know someone else in the same boat or who has been through it all already. Without a doubt they should be your first call. People find the best divorce lawyers through recommendations from trusted friends or family. If you have a close friend that has had good dealings with a lawyer chances are you’ll also be able to communicate well with them and end up a good team. Talk to your friend about how their divorce played out, how successful their settlement was for them, how long it went on for, did it get messy and so on. If they know you are going through the same thing there is more chance they’ll open up to you about such a personal experience. Don’t take any of their advice for granted.

Divorce may not be the ideal topic of conversation with work colleagues but if you don’t have a close friend that’s been through it before, you’ll almost definitely have a colleague that has. Being open and unashamed about your divorce often helps in dealing with the situation and draws in people who can offer support. Ask colleagues for advice but don’t be too pushy if they shy away from helping, messy divorces can be tough to talk about sometimes even years after the fact. Speak with a representative from your Human Resources department. There may be assistance programs available to you through your work; this could be anything from counseling to legal advice. Your employer could end up being the one putting you on the right path to find some of the best divorce lawyers in town.

Once you’ve found a lawyer, if not a couple that you think would be suited to your divorce case then make an appointment to meet with them. Meeting with them before hiring them for your case is important. This person is going to be taking charge of an incredibly important process in your life and if you don’t get a good feeling from them when you meet them, avoid them. Hire the one you feel in your gut you can trust and has your best interests at heart – sometimes easier said than done. You don’t need to go crazy over this person but you do need to be able to build a mutual respect for one another. Another great idea before hiring a lawyer is to do a little research on them online. If you find anything unusual or alarming call them on it and ask about it, if they can’t give you a satisfactory answer, move on and continue the search.

Finding the best divorce lawyers in your town or your state shouldn’t be too difficult. If they are the best, people will know about them so don’t be afraid to ask around. If you don’t seek the help of those around you, you could end up wasting valuable time or end up with a substandard lawyer who your neighbor could have told you to avoid – if you only asked!

While on my journey of aging gracefully I got an email today from a friend. Included in the email was a Clark Gable photo and quote:

The only reason they come to see me is that I know life is great – and they know I know it.

I sit here at my keyboard, simply allowing Mr. Gable’s quote to percolate with me; and the percolating rhythms add to my feeling great.

Yes, here I’m in my 60s, feeling mighty good; in fact, I’m feeling GREAT because like Clark Gable, I know life is great.

I remember when I first saw Clark Gable on the big screen; he was playing the role of Rhett Butler in the movie classic, Gone with the Wind.

And perhaps like many of Clark Gable’s fans, I too was picking up on his knowing-life-is-great attitude.

Reflecting back on my early years, my aging role models didn’t necessarily emanate the feelings of life is great.

My grandmother’s side of the family were my aging role models, providing me with pictures and stories as to what the later years of life might look like.

Uncle Mart & Aunt Emma; Aunt Murl and Uncle Gil; and Marie and Clyde . . .

Going to visit them was not one of my favorite things to do. They sat and talked; they talked and sat. They talked about what ailed them and what used to be.

Me as a little kid, I loved to run around. I loved to laugh. I loved action, filled with oodles and oodles of joy.

Aunt Murl, God bless her, was challenged by my joyful presence, and let me know on several occasions that my exuberant, spirited actions were most inappropriate.

Yeah, Aunt Murl let me know through her words and actions that being a good boy in her presence meant that I was to sit quietly.

One time around age 3 I attempted to offer Aunt Murl my point of view. Oh, my goodness . . . I can still see her finger shaking at me and the earrings, hanging from her big earlobes, bouncing in perfect rhythm with her shaking finger.

I learned to stifle my music in the presence of Aunt Murl.

Now all these years later, I recognize a life lesson Aunt Murl was teaching me. She chose to live in her sorrows and not to live in joy.

Yes, I admit I am a revolutionary kind of guy . . . revolutionizing the how to play in life’s Act 3 . . . simply letting out the music of the heart.

With aging gracefully – my heart’s music is pure joy; to me, life is great whatever my age may be. And just as I was at three years of age, I still feel my heart’s joy motivating me to move around, creating the music of joyful laughter!

Loving you,

Robert, aka Bob

The centimeter happens to be a unit of measurement used mostly in the modern metric system. Approximately 0.39 inches is its U.S. equivalent. You might know that 1 centimeter is just about a hundredth of 1 meter. Still, you should also know about the simplest conversion methods. It might be very useful if you’re aware of the fact that most newborns are 60cm long and the education we’re about to offer you will let you convert that to inches. It’s a gift puzzle from us that you’ll solve when you’ve read this article! Of course, you could always use an online conversion tool, to save time.

If you want to convert centimeters to inches, there are some interesting alternatives. But to make sure you understand the arithmetic from the core, we’re about to give you some orientations about the basics.

Fortunately, it’s pretty easy to understand how the inches conversion is needed. Funny though, it’s easy to picturing the rough height of people in terms of feet-inches measurement. But when it comes to measuring people’s height in metric system, things can be much confusing.

Without any proper direction, it’s almost impossible for you know, merely by the numerals, whether a guy measured is big, short or average in height. That’s where conversion calculators come in. Fortunately, they’re extensively available in the Internet too. Unfortunately, there are situations when we don’t have any computer handy. In those instances, it’s wiser to make use of simple yet effective arithmetic equations for turning the mystifying centimeter measurement to the equivalent feet or inches.

Multiply your centimeter number by 0.3937. As for an instance, when you’re working with a height of 191 centimeters, you’ll have to multiply that by 0.3937. Thus you will get 75. Done?

Then you have to divide this result from by 12. Thus you’ll get the total feet in your measurement. In our example, it’s 6.26. However, as height is seldom measured or reported in decimals, you’ll have to convert the .26 feet to an equivalent of inches. Fortunately, that’s easy as well. Just multiply a foot (which contains 12 inches) by .26 percent. This will result in 3 inches.

So there you go! Now you can present the final height using feet as well as inches. If you use the same old example of the 191 centimeters we mentioned earlier, your final measurement of height would be roughly 6 feet and 3 inches.

If you want to convert centimeters to inches, there are other ways around to it too! In fact, there are some instances when we need to go backward and forward between inches/feet and centimeters. But if you have a clear understanding of how inches/feet and centimeters are compared among one another, you shouldn’t need to break much sweat multiplying and/or dividing to find your desired results.
